We have all been there, Its Christmas eve and you just sat down with your friends and family for the most amazing and wonderful dinner. And here we are going through our heads how in the world are we going to enjoy ourselves without breaking our diet? Or even worse what if our family asks why we aren't eating everything? These are the times when it gets really hard to commit to and stick with a meal plan. So, today I'm going to offer you a few tips to getting through the holidays.

The first tip I can offer you is when sitting down to eat a meal be sure to properly balance the foods on your plate. For example you should fill about half of your plate with veggies or fruits, and another 1/3 of it should be a source of protein. By doing this you leave only a little bit of room for something "special" that you are craving. Be sure to eat and fill your self on lean meats and veggies/fruits. By doing this you will limit the amount of treats or "bad" foods you will eat. But you wont take them out completely because then your cravings will just get worse if you do. Be sure to treat yourself a little bit just don't over indulge.

Another tip is host the party. By doing this you can create a more balanced dinner and cut calories where you see fit. For example if you were to make a dish you could supplement butter for Pam and reduce the calories drastically.

Another idea and what I do for the holidays is I make sure to dedicate at-least 20 minuets to a jog in the morning on the days I know I will be having a big family dinner. By doing this you not only make it possible to eat more calories but you also keep your body in a calorie burning state throughout the day. In my experience I actual noticed weight loss during the holiday season, even though I was eating like a king everyday.

The biggest thing when it comes to holiday eating is being sure that you don't keep messing up your diet. If you decided to indulge once that's fine but don't use that as an excuse to keep doing it. Saying something like "oh I already messed up once what's one more time. " We are all human and we are going to mess up but be sure to catch it and don't allow it to snowball.
