Have you been trying to cut weight to achieve that summer body you have always dreamed of? Or are you trying to remove that last layer of fat to reveal those abs? If so, then today is your lucky day. I'm going to share with you my secret to cutting down.
My biggest tactic when it comes to getting lean and shredded is committing to intermittent fasting. The idea of intermittent fasting is when you do not consume any calories for roughly 14 hours. Intermittent fasting helps you achieve this weight loss goal in a variety of weighs.
First off by not eating for 14 hours of the day your limiting yourself to how much you can really eat in the day. For example, lets say you stuff yourself for your first meal of the day and end up eating about 900 calories in that one meal you are going to be full for awhile which will cause you to eat less throughout the duration of the day. Now some of you are probably asking "how can I possible not eat for 14 hours in a day?". Which is a valid question and as an answer you should be drinking plenty of water, and try drinking coffee. Coffee which contains caffeine is a great way to stick to this plan because caffeine is a natural hungry suppressant. Once you get adjusted to this type of diet it will become very easy to stay in a calorie deficit.
Another benefit of intermittent fasting is the fact that it will drop your blood insulin levels which in return can and will boost fat burning according to health line(2017) . Which will also lower your chance of diabetes, so its a win-win situation.
So what should you eat when you do? While on a cut is best to make sure you are at at least a 200 calorie deficit and make sure you are keeping high levels of protein in your diet to aid in muscle retention.
Now diet alone isn't the best way to lose weight. Generally speaking your diet contributes to 80% of weight loss. But to truly achieve that great physique you will want to commit to a workout routine. In my experience the best way to cut fat is to commit to an intermediate level of cardio constantly throughout the week rather than going all out on cardio a few times a week. For example, a great way to get in this cardio is by playing in local pick up basketball games, or going on a morning jog. But it is important to throw in a curve every once in awhile to keep your body from becoming complacent. Being that we are creatures of habit you will want to switch up the exercises to keep your body guessing. This way you will optimize the calories burnt during a cardio session.
In addition to cardio adding in some weight training to keep muscle loss at minimum is ideal. This will also allow you to burn extra calories because lifting weights requires your muscle to work. Which, results in the consumption of energy leading to more burnt calories.
In review, a clean diet combined with intermittent fasting and working out will have you getting closer to your dream body every day.
